WHAT SOFTWARE DO I NEED?
Photoshop CS-CS6 or CC is ideal for use. Can I use PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS? Yes, for the majority of my files. I have specified the software requirements in each listing based on which files are set up using folders.
CAN I USE ANOTHER PHOTO-EDITING PROGRAM? Maybe, but I can not guarantee the files will work as I only test in Photoshop. Let’s just say that my FILES CAN ONLY BE OPENED in PHOTOSHOP.
ARE FONTS INCLUDED WITH PURCHASE?
A list with links to the fonts used for EDITABLE TEXT will be provided as a download with purchase. Due to copyright restrictions, the actual font files CAN NOT be provided for you, you WILL need to follow the links, download & install the fonts.
FONT LICENSING CHANGES or NLA
I use fonts that are available and free for commercial use when I create a design, BUT I do NOT own or design the fonts, THEREFORE it is possible that a font that was once offered could be no longer available by the designer or may no longer be free for commercial use.
I apologize, but I do not refund for these rare issues as I have no control AND the font is not the entirety of a design. If this happens, you can purchase the font or use a similar font of your own.
HOW DO I INSTALL FONTS?
Unfortunately, I can not provide direction for installing fonts, as the steps vary depending on your specific model of computer. Here is a link to helpful font installation info from one of my favorite font sites, that might help.

HOW DO I UNZIP MY FILES
Due to Etsy’s limitations on the # of files we can include with your download, any product that includes more than 4 files has to be compressed into a .ZIP file. If your file ends in .ZIP then you need to UN-compress/UN-zip the files before you can use them.
PC: Right-click the file and select “unzip contents” or “extract all” and then follow the instructions. This should create a new folder next to the original .zip file bearing the same name. Your files should be in the new folder.
MAC: Double click the .zip file to expand it, then search for the product folder or product file.
If this does not work, do a quick google search for “how to unzip a file on a (your computer model/operating system)” for additional assistance.
HOW DO I RESIZE A TEXTBOX?
- Double-click on the text layer and a bounding box with anchors will appear in the corners and the center.
- Hover over any of the anchor boxes until the directional arrows appear.
- Once you see the arrow, right click on the bounding box and drag the box to the size that you need.
If you have not done this before, it may take some practice. I do not offer visual tutorials of this, so if you need a visual, you will need to search youtube for something similar to “how to resize a textbox in photoshop.”
HOW DO I RESIZE A DESIGN ELEMENT OR COLORED BOX?
- Select the layer of the element that you want to adjust.
- Select EDIT < FREE TRANSFORM from the main menu OR click CTRL + T.
- A bounding box with anchors will appear in the corners and the centers of the element.
- Hover over any of the anchor boxes until the directional arrows appear.
- Once you see the arrow, right click on the bounding box and drag the box to the size that you need.
If you have not done this before, it may take some practice. I do not offer visual tutorials of this, so if you need a visual, you will need to search youtube for something similar to “how to resize a textbox in photoshop.” IMPORTANT NOTE: Enlarging design elements may cause you to loose image quality depending on how much larger you choose to resize them. Making them smaller will NOT effect image quality.
CAN I CREATE A DIGITAL MAGAZINE FROM YOUR MAGAZINE FILES?
Yes, you can create a digital magazine using my magazine files, however every file host has different instructions for saving & uploading files to their site, so those instructions are not included within my documentation. I provide the PSD files, but PSD files are not submitted for publication, the PSD files will need to be saved & uploaded based instructions from your chosen hosting site.
I suggest ISSUU.COM and here is the link to their FILE INSTRUCTIONS. There are probably a variety of other sites that you can use, but you will need to source other sites and their instructions on you own.
Unfortunately, I can not assist you with troubleshooting for this process as I am not affiliated with any other site and I do not upload magazines myself so I have no idea how that process works. The best I can offer is a link to issue.com, which is a site that my buyers have reported having success with.
CAN I CREATE A PDF FOR EMAILING FROM YOUR MAGAZINE FILES?
Our magazine files are PSD files, which can be saved in a wide variety of ways, however I only provide written instructions on how to save your file for professional printing. Instructions for all other saving methods or file conversion methods (including saving as a JPG or PDF for emailing to clients) are up to the buyer, as there are no universal instructions for this process. Here are some tips that might help:
PDF SAVING OPTIONS
1. CREATE PDF IN PHOTOSHOP: Unfortunately, the process/steps for saving a PSD file as a PDF file in Photoshop changes drastically depending on your version of Photoshop. With that said, I suggest a google search for something similar to “Saving a PSD file as a PDF file in Photoshop (insert your version)” and hopefully their will be instructions available online.
2. USE A CONVERSION SITE: Previous buyers have mentioned that there are several different free websites that will convert JPG files to a multiple page PDF. These sites can be found by using google search. I would suggest searching for “converting JPEGs to a PDF” or other similar wording.
3. ADOBE ACROBAT: Adobe Acrobat has also been mentioned as a way to create a multiple page PDF. Again, you would need to do a google search for something like “How to create a Multiple Page PDF using Adobe Acrobat” or other similar wording.
Unfortunately, I can not assist you with troubleshooting for these options or additional ones as I am not familiar with the process.
WHERE CAN I PRINT MY FILES?
The printers below are suggestions only, not every lab will print every style/size of template that we sell. Finding a print shop is the responsibility of the buyer. Our templates are set up using universal standards, but you may need to adjust the files according to your printers needs.
• Online: millerslab.com, vistaprint.com, overnightprints.com
• Local Print Shop: OfficeMax, OfficeDepot, Kinko’s, etc
DISCLAIMER: Please be sure to check the template(s) for correct colors, spelling, bleeds, safe zones & fonts before printing. Digiluxe Design is not responsible for printing errors.
